Good practice advice – don’t abbreviate 2020

Jan 07, 2020

We are aware of recent news articles warning against abbreviating the date 2020 as the date can be altered easily.

For example, if the date is written as “06/01/20” it can be altered to look like the document is dated “06/01/2019” or even dated ahead, such as “06/01/2025.”

With this in mind we will write the year date 2020 in our correspondence. To protect yourself you may also wish to do the same when signing or dating your documents.
