Mark's story
Mark is 22 years old; due to a mental disorder he has no mental capacity. He has lived most of his life in hospital and he going to live in a supported accommodation in the community.
Mark needs to sign a tenancy agreement but he does not have the capacity to do so for himself. He is in receipt of benefits and has a Department of Work in Pensions (DWP) appointee. He does not have a bank account in his own name.
An intervention order may be necessary to sign the tenancy agreement on Mark’s behalf and to open a bank account for him, so his utility bills etc. can be paid from this.
